I love to cover Bob Dylan songs, but maybe not like you think. See, Bob Dylan is a poet before he is anything, always was and will. I have a ridiculously large and heavy book of Bob Dylan's lyrics, crafted by a team of Ivy League researchers. I'll flip through that book and find a piece that catches my eye and then I'll sit down and work to a beat, grab my guitar, get some kind of a groove going. And the last thing I do is pull that big ass book up on my desk and start finding the verses and choruses that move with that groove, at least to my ears which are sad skin flaps that often dangle uselessly from the side of my head. Other times, they seem to work. I think this is one of them.
Here are the lyrics to I Dreamed I Saw St. Augustine.
