I write novels, screenplays, short stories, and books of critical essays that take popular culture seriously enough to argue with it. Not recap it. Not celebrate it uncritically, but argue with it to see if there’s light that can be taken away from it and applied to our lives.
Chasing transcendence through art is a noble pursuit. If you support that concept, you are welcome to enjoy my writing. The only thing I ask is that you engage with the work on its own terms, as if it fell from the sky and you didn’t know who sent it. I strongly believe in experiencing art without the creator's lens interfering with direct experience. This is a skill that can be learned and taught. I am committed to this form of New Criticism.
