SPRINGSTEEN: Deliver Me From Nowhere (2025)
A Consciousness-Based Appreciation
You may not enjoy this film the first time you see it, but I fell in love within 32 minutes.
This is a movie about…
…the damage art can do when it comes through an artist who isn’t ready to be a vessel for its magnitude and scope.
…men taking care of each other.
…why art is never enough to fix the problem, because art doesn’t solve anything when humans must always do the heavy lifting.
… how deciding to deal with your shit and to stop running away is the beginning of healing, and this film captures the lead-up to that glorious moment of raw self-actualization.
And this is a film about a father, son, and the distance between them that can’t be measured by time or space.
Deliver Me From Nowhere has a happy ending, but it drives through darkness all night to get there. The music provides enough light to see clearly.
Go see this one. Someday, when you’re ready, watch it again as a different person.
And always make time to listen to Nebraska, by Bruce Springsteen, one of the most excellent examples of an artist committing suicide on one album and being reborn on the next one.
